After dissolving the JV football team last year, the athletic department reinstated the team this fall.

There wasn’t a 2013 JV football team because of the lack of players to build a full roster. This required all the players to be varsity, thus limiting time on the field for the novice players.

“That’s the huge plus of having a JV team, they get more time” Athletic Director  Joy Manning said.

The JV football team has allowed for young players to get a chance to prove themselves to the coaches.

“This year I play the whole game. Last year I played the last 1 to 2 minutes if we were winning,” JV football player Max Peppel (10) said .

Freshman Jake Kollars played football throughout junior high and believes his playing time has improved.

“If it wasn’t for the JV team I wouldn’t even be playing football,” Kollars said.

Just because the JV and varsity are two different teams, doesn’t mean they aren’t getting experience from the varsity players.

“JV practices against varsity,” Peppel said. This allows players to gain experience and hone their skills against varsity players.

The JV football team went 2-6 on the season.
