The anticipated new musical, “The Wedding Singer” is taking shape with the callbacks recently being released. Auditions for the musical took place on Nov. 18 and 19 for those who signed up. Each auditionee was required to have a 70’s or 80’s pop song, a comedic or dramatic monologue, and choreographed dance to perform. After those who were planning on auditioning prepared, the auditions started with director of the musical, Michael Wadham.

“I think I did really well [on my audition], for the first time I didn’t trip up on anything. I normally forget a line,” David M. (12) said.

The comedic musical revolves around main character, Robbie Hart, a wedding singer who is ironically stood up at his own wedding. Through his heart break, he goes back to work performing at various weddings only to befriend a waitress, Julia. Planning a wedding of her own, Robbie helps her and through the process they fall for one another.

“[The musical] is a lot more modern. I think it’s really funny,” David M. said.

For those who auditioned for the musical, the callbacks were posted by the director late on Nov. 19.  The show will open on Mar. 20.
