Following the night of March 8th, another Turnabout dance has come and gone.

With strong attendance and the theme “Pretty In Pink,” half of the profits from the dance are to be donated to the Stefanie Spielman foundation, a research fund for breast cancer.

“We thought it was an important cause to donate to, and we chose what looked like a trustworthy foundation,” Eric K. (11), student council member, said.

In addition to ticket sales, student council was also selling links for chains that would also be part of the fundraising. At the end of the night, whichever classes’ chain was the longest was able to throw a pie in Principal Paul Waller’s face.

While positive fundraising and turnout were both present, the idea of Turnabout King – while proposed at a student council meeting – was not incorporated into the dance.

“I thought it would have been interesting, since they would do things like Homecoming Queen or Prom Queen,” Jack B. (12) said.

However, the student council’s priorities lay elsewhere.

“Since we’d never done it before, it didn’t seem like a worthy time investment when weighed against everything else we were working on,” Zack J. (11), junior class president, said. “Tonight, our focus was on the fundraising.”
