Girls/Boys basketball wraps up

Senior captian Claire Davis takes the ball down court in the girls game against the Centerville Elks. The Jills put up a solid effort but lost the game 72-39.

The Oakwood girls basketball team finished the season with a winning record of 12-10; the boys team on the other hand were not as successful with a record of 5-16.

“We didn’t have the best record but it was a fun experience” Senior captain Levi Miller said. “My favorite part of the season was playing with a new group of friends.”

Senior captain Claire Davis had similar nostalgia about the season; her favorite parts included “Playing Just Dance before the games,” and the senior night “because all the underclassman worked really hard to decorate the pit and make the season special for us.”

Boys basketball coach  Paul Stone felt good about the season despite the team’s record. “I was blessed with a great group of kids.” Stone said. He attributes their record to the disadvantages the team faced. “I think when you play as many sophomores as we did, you’ll have your ups and downs…we weren’t very tall and we weren’t very fast and that’s a bad combination.” Stone said. His favorite part of the season was “beating Tipp City at home.”

Both the boys and the girls think their programs will be continue to work hard to be successful. “We expect a bright future for the Oakwood Jills basketball team.” Davis (12) said.

“A lot of underclassman have a lot of experience so it should help them down the road.” Miller (12) said.
